The working format is native DWG: files open and save with no conversion, so drawings are exchanged with practices, contractors and suppliers using AutoCAD or other CAD. It is meant for architects, engineers, surveyors and technical offices producing drawings, site plans and working documents.

ZWCAD Standard and AutoCAD LT: what really changes

Moving from AutoCAD LT to ZWCAD Standard asks you to relearn nothing, because the interface is practically the same: ribbon or classic environment as you prefer, command line with the same commands and the same aliases, management of layers, blocks and external references identical in its logic. Anyone who has been drawing for years recognises everything at first launch.

On automation the gap has narrowed: since the 2024 version AutoCAD LT also runs AutoLISP routines, with a few more limits than the full AutoCAD, and anyone who has automated dimensioning, title blocks or checks with twenty lines of LISP takes them along on both programs. The differences that remain lie elsewhere: lower hardware requirements, the perpetual license Autodesk no longer offers and a price that on five workstations changes the practice's budget, with DWG as the native format for both.
